Olson 29/30

Olson 30                                                 Olson 29

In 1978 George Olson designed the ultralight Olson 30. In 1984, the boat was revamped as the Olson 29. The 29 has the same hull as the 30, but everthing else is different. Due the smaller foretriangle, the 29 actually has less upwind sail area than the 30. The down wind sail area is higher as the 29 mainsail is larger than the 30 and assuming that the "stock" penalty pole on the 29 is used. With the long pole, the 29 has the same sized spinnaker as the 30.
